Who We Are

camandpunts

Cambridge Street Pastors was founded in 2009 and is a registered charity.  We are a membership organisation which is run by a Management Committee (Trustees) elected annually from and by its Members.

We encourage members of local churches and any organisation that is working with us to become a Member of Cambridge Street Pastors: this gives you the opportunity to participate in the organisation by coming along to the AGM as a voting member, receiving detailed newsletters, joining patrols any time as an Observer, being elected to join the Management Committee, etc. For details see the member's form.

Street Pastors, a national organisation, were pioneered in London in 2003 by Revd Les Isaac.  On that first night, 18 volunteers took to the streets of Brixton – 15 women and 3 men.  Les Isaac has recently been interviewed by Premier Christianity on the 20th anniversary, read here.

Since then over 12,000 street and prayer pastors have been trained,  playing an active part in strengthening community life and working for safer streets.

Currently, more than 300 towns and cities around the UK have a Street Pastors team. When you add prayer pastors, management teams and trustees, this means that there are over 20,000 volunteers in total associated with the Street Pastors network.
