Volunteer
If you are interested in volunteering with Cambridge Street Pastors or NightLite most people will usually take part in an Observation Night and give it a try as a first step. From there we invite people to apply using either the Street Pastor or NightLite application forms.
Once the application form is completed and references contacted and approved, volunteers then receive training for their particular role.
As a Christian charity we expect all our NightLite volunteers to honour the values and ethos of the Christian faith and beliefs, but we don't insist on a church membership; in fact we welcome people who are willing to show kindness by serving and helping anyone in need on a Saturday night without judgement.
We do expect our Street Pastor volunteers to be a part of the Christian community and can be anyone who:
-
Is over the age of 18
-
Has been committed to a church fellowship for more than one year, with a personal reference from their minister or church leader
-
Willing to attend an ongoing training program
-
Has been checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
-
Can be committed to 1 Saturday night every month (9.30pm - 3am)
-
Must be able to work in a team and be guided by a Team Leader while on Patrol
All volunteers are required to follow the application process and to attend a minimum of one evening of training. They are then invited and encouraged to join all the Street Pastor training sessions to better equip them to help visitors to NightLite.
Prayer Pastors

Cambridge Street Pastors and NightLite work best when supported by prayer and some dedicated Prayer Pastors to "watch and pray" from home via the phone. The Prayer Pastors pray for the Street Pastor team when they go out and for any situations that require prayer support in NightLite during the night. The teams keep in contact with them by mobile phone regularly throughout the night.
All team members are expected to offer one Saturday night every month. A flexible rota is published in advance so that volunteers don’t miss their special events and other diary dates.
Please Contact our Coordinator Neat Pellatt on cambridge@streetpastors.org.uk or phone 07588 560090 if you wish to apply, arrange an Observation night or would like a call to find out more.
