Who We Are

Looking back to Town & Gown

Cambridge Street Pastors was founded in 2009 and NightLite, a Safe Space Night Café was opened in 2013.  We are a membership organisation which is run by a Management Committee (Trustees) elected annually and is a registered charity.

We encourage members of local and regional churches (currently 22 different Cambridgeshire churches are represented by our 25 volunteers). Many organisations work alongside us to support Cambridge Street Pastors. If you would like to participate in the charity by coming along to the AGM as a voting member, receiving detailed newsletters, joining patrols any time as an Observer or being elected to join the Management Committee please email director@cambridgestreetpastors.org.uk to express your interest.

Street Pastors, as a national organisation, was pioneered in London in 2003 by Revd Les Isaac.

Since then over 12,000 street and prayer pastors have been trained, playing an active part in strengthening community life and working for safer streets.

Currently, more than 200 towns and cities around the UK have a Street Pastors team. When you add prayer pastors, management teams and trustees, this means that there are over 20,000 volunteers in total associated with the Street Pastors network.
